Alex Liou is a Freelance Motion Designer / 3D Artist currently based in New York. He's passionate about creating 3D animations that contain simulations, particles, and fantastical visuals. He began professionally working in the industry when he moved to Los Angeles in 2018. He's been fortunate enough to work on various commercials, title sequences, feature films, experiential projects, and music visuals. He began his 3D journey using Cinema 4D, but has since heavily pivoted into using Houdini as his main tool since 2020. He now primarily works with Houdini, Cinema 4D, Redshift, Unreal Engine, and the Adobe Creative Suite.
Prior to motion graphics, Alex worked and taught in the music industry for a number of years. He did not discover motion graphics until about 2015 when he was working for a drumstick manufacturing company in Nashville, TN. He fully decided to pivot and begin changing careers in 2017.
In his spare time, Alex is an avid snowboarder, practitioner of Muay Thai, and wannabe chef. He also has a very cute cat named Appa who might occasionally hop on calls too.
